First Bike

When you decide to buy your first motorcycle, you should be prepared and ready for the expense that comes with taking your new ride home. You can purchase a “standard” motorcycle from most any motorcycle shop in the country. A “standard” motorcycle will usually be one of the more affordable options, but will have the least amount of features available compared to those that are more expensive. You may not realize it at first, but there is a big difference in riding a “standard” motorcycle and a “sport bike” or a “bikesport.” The differences between the two can make for a great discussion, and maybe even a good bike swap.

When you purchase your first bike, you should look into what the insurance costs are for motorcycles in your area. There are many places where you can find the average motorcycle insurance rates in your area, and you should try to get a few quotes from different companies. By doing this you can have an idea on what the difference between coverage and price is. If you take out an offer on your first bike you should also take a look at what the deductible is for each company, and if it is less then you might want to consider changing teams.

Take a test ride if you can, just so you know what you are getting into before you take your first bike out on the road. Although you don’t want to fall into the trap of buying a motorcycle that you are not sure you will enjoy riding, you want to get your feet wet and start to understand how to drive. So, it might be a good idea to test ride a number of different bikes, so when you go to make that purchase you are aware of all the options available to you, as well as what the pros and cons of each one are. Once you have a good understanding of a motorcycle and what to expect out of it then you can make a sound decision and purchase your first bike.
