This year I am making it my mission to explore more of the UK. There are so many beautiful sights here and we don’t need to get on a plane to see them. Living in Yorkshire means a lot of the best sights in England are right on my doorstep. But, one thing that does make sightseeing in the UK harder is the traditionally British weather. Even in the summer months you can have rain, cold days and nights and mud. Lots and lots of mud! Fortunately Simply Hike can help with outdoor wear with The North Face and other ranges. I have been in desperate need of walking boots, so they sent me the Keen Terradora waterproof boots.
I have been dreaming of visiting Scotland for quite a while now. Even though I live in the North of England I’ve never crossed over the border. When I think of travelling to Scotland the Scottish Highlands are the places I dream of. The scenery just so beautiful up there! Stunning landscapes, weathered coastlines and plenty of castles and lochs to explore. At Blog at the Beach I found out that Icelolly.com have a UK travel section so my Scottish Highlands travel wishlist and plans are coming together nicely.
As I haven’t been to the Scottish Highlands myself all of todays photographs are royalty free photos from Pixabay.
This month I was invited to my first ever travel event, the Icelolly.com Blog at the Beach January 2018. Icelolly.com are the UK’s leading holiday comparison site with 20 million visitors a year. Their website is a mine of information and inspiration. From the website you can compare prices and hotels in specific areas or even choose the date you want to go on holiday and compare holidays around the world. You can find city breaks, beach holidays, skiing trips or even UK mini breaks.
The Icelolly.com Blog at the Beach January 2018 is a chance to meet other travel bloggers, talk to Icelolly.com themselves and listen to some fabulous guest speakers.
Between Christmas and New Year me and Ellie were in need of a walk to burn off some of the Christmas calories and some fresh air to blow away being indoors for a few days. The Leeds Magical Lantern Festival was just the place to go. The Magical Lantern Festival has a few different venues around the UK, but the Roundhay Park Leeds is the closest to us. (more…)
Exploring the Holy Island of Lindisfarne is something I have been wanting to do for the longest time. After reading about a remote island totally cut off unless the tide is out I have been wanting to see it for myself. Travelling over a coastal road, seeing a town cut off from the world and exploring the place people go on pilgrimage from all over the world is so exciting. Staying in our Airbnb cottage was the perfect base for a day at Holy Island / Lindisfarne and was our main reason for our visit to Northumberland.
