Last month we decided to finally cross visiting Holy Island off our wishlist. I knew there were a few other places I wanted to visit whilst we were up there so decided to make a little holiday out of it. As is always the case in the school summer holidays, prices in the hotels and BnB’s are super expensive. So remembering a post I had read on Beccas blog I got a discount code from her and began looking on Airbnb. Simonside Cottage in Rothbury, Northumberland instantly jumped out at me and before I knew it, it was booked! So today I am sharing my first Airbnb experience at Simonside Cottage in Rothbury.
When me and Ellie go on holiday I almost always travel on a tight budget. I would rather spend a little less and have more holidays and more spending money. For the most part, hotels are simply somewhere to lay your head after a day exploring or laying by the pool. This means we usually stay in smaller, family run hotels that are slightly out of town. When booking our Mallorca holiday it was different as the Bellevue Club Hotel in Alcudia was the best deal.
As I was booking our holiday to Alcudia, Mallorca I knew we would be spending a day in Palma. I have seen so many photos of the city and cathedral that I fell in love with. My original plan was to use public transport and bus down to Palma. But as it was April and out of season the buses aren’t as regular. Fortunately an excursion shop had a coach trip there for us. The coach takes you from Alcudia to Palma, has a drive around the main sights before dropping you off to explore for yourself. (more…)
This year we have chosen to not have one big holiday and instead have a few different shorter holidays throughout the year. This way we get to see more of the world quicker and it keeps the wanderlust under control. I have already had a trip to Dublin and a few months later we were jetting off again to Mallorca.
