This weekend Ellie and I had a little road trip up to Newcastle for something we have been waiting ages for. Seeing Ed Sheeran at St James Park Newcastle. The tickets were part of Ellies birthday present so she has had a long wait.

After the long wait Ellie is so excited to finally be seeing him. OK, I was pretty excited myself too.

Tickets for Ed Sheehan are SO hard to get, panic buying anything means seats that aren’t the best at a venue over two hours away from us.

One thing I love about Ed is him trying to stop the touts. You cannot resell his tickets and everyone has to bring the ticket confirmation, the card they have been paid for with and photographic ID.

Ed Sheeran at St James Park Newcastle – The support acts

There are two support acts at Ed Sheeran at St James Park Newcastle, and his other dates.

The first is Jamie Lawson. I have to say I haven’t heard of him and don’t know his music. But, he is an Ivor Novello winning singer songwriter. He is great though! His music has everyone up and moving and it’s a great way to start the show.

The second support act is Anne-Marie. I’m a big fan of Anne-Marie, I love her voice and always love her singles. She is brilliant live and sounds exactly how she does on the radio. She sang all the songs everyone knows as well as songs from her new album too.

Ed Sheeran is out on stage at exactly 8.30pm. The 55,000 strong crowd is deafening as he walks out on stage! For the two hour set the atmosphere is amazing, the whole crowd sing along to every song he plays. For the two hour set the atmosphere is amazing, the whole crowd sing along to every song he plays.

He plays a great mix of songs from his new albums and older albums. Most of the songs are the huge hits everyone knows from the radio.

I really love the stage presence Ed has. Sometimes seeing one guy with a guitar can be underwhelming with no-one else on the stage but we didn’t feel that at all. He is also such a lovely, genuine guy. I love his interaction with the crowd and how humble he still is.

Sitting further back we get to see the entire stage. The screens are brilliant, instead of just showing the close up of him they are really bright and artistic.

Our day at Ed Sheeran at St James Park Newcastle was just a really happy, uplifting day. Apart from when he sings photograph…because no YOU cry when he sings that.
