Both me and Ellie love afternoon tea. Having a girly trip out, eating sandwiches, scones and cakes is a real treat for us both. Caffe Moments is a local cafe that I have been following for a while. Their afternoon teas always have great reviews from everyone who goes. They have recently started themed teas and one, I just couldn’t resist booking. This weekend we went to the Caffe Moments Alice in Wonderland afternoon tea.
Caffe Moments Alice in Wonderland afternoon tea – The food & drink
Our table was ready and waiting for us set up with super cute tea cups and saucers and side plates. How utterly adorable are the “drink me” vials of juice? We also have a glass of Pimms (for me) and orange juice for Ellie.
Firstly we have the carrot and coriander soup. I love the small glass mugs it arrives in. The soup tastes delicious and is the perfect amount before the afternoon tea. Ellie isn’t too keen, but it is made from vegetables and she’s a typical teenager at the moment.
And our Caffe Moments Alice in Wonderland afternoon tea tier arrives. There is SO much food! I have to mention the effort the staff went to for the day, as you can see in the background everyone was in fancy dress. Alice and the Mad Hatter are on this photo and there is the Queen of Hearts and playing cards too.
The savoury tier of our afternoon tea has finger sandwiches and cheese tarts. We have ham and tuna sandwiches but I think there was a mixture of fillings on the day as the table next to us had cucumber sandwiches. The quiche and tarts are bite size and both taste really good.
And for the sweet treats, which lets be honest are what we all go for afternoon tea for.
The strawberry and cream scones are a real highlight, the scones are perfect and they have a really generous amount of cream filling. Ellie loves the eat me brownies which are chocolatey and gooey in the middle.
I really love the bite size jam tarts too as the pastry is short and crumbly. The shortbread biscuits are buttery and melt in the mouth.
A real surprise is the cheesecake. It is an upside down cheesecake, once you break through the biscuity layer the cheese is orange but tastes of mint. Meringue is a huge weakness of mine, probably because it’s pretty much pure sugar. It isn’t something you often see with afternoon tea so it was a nice change.
As well as all the food, the Pimms and juice we have a pot of tea too. Even in the hot weather we’re having I’m still living on cups of tea.
Caffe Moments Alice in Wonderland afternoon tea
We loved our Caffe Moments Alice in Wonderland afternoon tea. The food was all homemade and tastes amazing and we had plenty of drinks. The staff are all so lovely and friendly and I love that they made such an effort with the day for all the customers. We will definitely be back again for more afternoon teas and I will be keeping my eye on the themed events there.
Caffe Moments are in the Morley area of Leeds and are well worth the trip from the centre of town for afternoon tea or even just a pot of tea and a cake. You can follow them on Facebook here.
