For anyone living in or near Leeds, May is a pretty exciting month. The Leeds Indie Food Festival is back! There are food and drink events for every taste, including lots of vegan and vegetarian events. There are plenty of events to take children and teenagers to too.
What is the Leeds Indie Food Festival?
The Leeds Indie Food Festival runs from the 10th – 28th May. It takes over lots of different venues in Leeds with themed events. Some are free to enter and others are pre-bookable ticket only events.
What events I will be attending at the Leeds Indie Food Festival
I’m planning on attending five events at the festival this year. Though I will hopefully manage to squeeze a few more foodie treats in too!
One of the most exciting events for me is the Pay As You Feel supermarket at Junk Food Emporium. I’m already a fan of the work Junk Food Emporium do and love that they are redistributing surplus and waste food for the public to buy. The store will be open from the 10th – 28th May.
Temple Coffee & Doughnuts and Northern Bloc are joining together to serve doughnuts and ice cream. Is there a combination that sounds more heavenly? This event is running from the 10th – 28th May and LIF passport holders get 30% off.
Chapel Allerton School are holding their school diner event again this year on the 11th – 13th May. We went last year and had a great time trying food from the different street food vans in their playground.
The Belgrave Music Hall are holding their Belgrave Feast again this year on the 12th May. I couldn’t make it last year so definitely want to make it this year. It promises a great menu, cocktails, DJs and a pizza making class for little ones too.
And finally, the most fabulous sounding event, Pizza and prosecco at Waterlane Boathouse on the 19th May. I already love Waterlane Boathouse so can’t wait to eat pizza and drink prosecco there. Hopefully it will be a sunny day and we can all sit in there huge beer garden.
Last year was my first time at the Leeds Indie Food festival and I really enjoyed it. I love that there are events I can go to with my friends on a weekend night and events I can go to with Ellie through the day.
You can find out what events are happening over the 18 days here and buy a festival passport here for discounts at some of them.
Will you be attending the Leeds Indie Food festival? Or do you have anything like this where you live?
