Oh What A Pavlova by Isabella May

Oh What A Pavlova by Isabella May – The blurb

Kate Clothier is leading a double life: a successful jet-setting businesswoman to the outside world, but behind closed doors, life with Daniel and his volcanic temper is anything but rosy.

Some days – heck, make that EVERY day – cake is her only salvation.

Slowly but surely, the cities she visits – and the men she meets – help her to realise there IS a better future.

And the ley lines of Glastonbury are certainly doing their best to impart their mystical wisdom…

But will she escape before it’s too late?

Oh What A Pavlova by Isabella May – Review

Oh What A Pavlova by Isabella May follows Kate’s life. Kate is a very successful and scandalous business woman who travels around. For the first few chapters I really didn’t like Kate at all and didn’t think I would be able to connect with her. It quite quickly becomes apparent that behind closed doors she is a victim of domestic violence. I won’t spoil anything but the story follows Kate on her journey through that.

Although I didn’t care for Kate at first you will be really rooting for her as the book goes on. I really love that her job involves a lot of travelling as you get to hear all about different cities and countries she is visiting. As someone who has experienced domestic violence myself I feel the story there was really well written and really does justice to anyone who has been through it. There are some parts that are quite uncomfortable to read, but I’m not sure if that is just reading it as someone who has had a similar experience. Despite the very dark theme there are really light and humorous moments throughout too.

Oh What A Pavlova is a darker than usual chick lit book that is a real page-turning and gripping read.
