Is it too early to be thinking about Christmas already? Erm no! Is it too early to be Christmas crafting in a Christmas jumper and eating Christmas food? Definitely not! I was super excited to don my fave festive jumper and head down for Christmas crafting at the Viking Arty Party this weekend.

My first workshop at the Viking Arty Party is brush writing (or calligraphy) with Artsy Nibs. This is the workshop I had been most looking forward to. Calligraphy is so beautiful to look at and is such a pretty, girly craft.

After learning the basics of brush writing and individual letters I am quickly realising brush writing is not a craft I am good at! Although I know how I want it to look and what I need to do it just doesn’t seem to come out on the paper. I have made a little Christmas card though and I am proud of my effort.

Christmas crafting at the Viking Arty Party – Block printing files

My next workshop Christmas crafting at the Viking Arty Party is block printing with Tea and Crafting. Block printing isn’t something I know much about so, I wasn’t sure what I was expecting. It is so much fun. Getting messy with paint is always good and I really love how easy but effective it is. I do wish I could have practiced the stamping on something first as I definitely got better as it went along. This is something I will definitely be doing more of now I know how to do it. You just know I will be stamping all the things!

Why not try decorating your own magazine file and brightening up your desk?

Christmas crafting at the Viking Arty Party – Christmas advent calendar crackers

My last workshop Christmas crafting at the Viking Arty Party is making Christmas advent calendar crackers. I always make Ellie an advent calendar so I have been really looking forward to learning how to make crackers and jazzing her advent up.

I really love how my cracker has turned out and I have everything else I need to make another 23 so I will be busy doing that on a night.

This glitter paper is just what you need for your own crackers.

Spending a day Christmas crafting at the Viking Arty Party has really got me in the mood for Christmas now. Whilst calligraphy isn’t my thing I had a lot of fun trying it out. The block printing and crackers are definitely something I will be doing more of at home.

Do let me know if a guide on making the crackers is something you would like to see here in the run up to Christmas.

Which would your favourite craft be? Is there a craft you have always wanted to try yourself?

*I spent the day crafting and received a Christmas present in exchange for this. As always this does not influence my thoughts and opinions.

  1. Hi there, I enjoy reading all of your post. I like to write a little comment to support you.

  2. It sounds like you had a great time! I love calligraphy but it’s so fiddly at times and I make dozens of mistakes in just one word. It looks really good if you manage to get it right though but I’m so jealous of everyone who can do it without even thinking.
