One of my summer traditions now is attending the Fake Festival tour. This year me, Ellie and my friends went to the Fake Festival at Roundhay Park Leeds stop one sunny Saturday.
Fake Festival at Roundhay Park Leeds – What is it?
Fake Festival tours the UK over the summer stopping off in different towns for a Saturday day and night mini festival. Finally, at the start of September they then have a 3 day Big Fake Festival in Nottinghamshire. All of the headline bands that perform along the tour and at the Big Fake Festival are tribute bands. The support bands whilst touring are local bands, that typically play cover songs.
Fake Festival at Roundhay Park Leeds and all the other tour dates and Big weekend is under a huge, white big top tent. The bar is inside the tent and food stalls are outside. So it doesn’t matter what the weather is like as you are in the shelter all day. (Always good for a festival here in the UK!)
Now, this is terrible to admit but, I can’t actually remember how much the tickets were *face palm*! They were about £15 each though.
Fake Festival runs a token bar which works really well. A booth sells tokens, which are £3.50 each. A token gets one alcoholic drink or two soft drinks. Because of this queues at the bar are always short and move really quickly.
The festival is very family friendly. Not only are kids are welcome there are stalls and fair rides for them too. As Ellie is a teenager I’m more than happy for her to come along with me and my friends. She obviously doesn’t run around and is wise enough to keep away from people who might have had a bit too much to drink by the end of the night.
Fake Festival at Roundhay Park Leeds – The bands
The line up for Fake Festival at Rounday Park Leeds was really good. The tribute bands were all bands I love and have seen before (the real bands I mean!).
First up is Guns 2 Roses, and Guns n Roses tribute band. They perform all the classic GnR songs that everyone knows and really look like the band too.
Next is The Fillers who are a The Killers tribute band. They really are a brilliant tribute band, they look the part and really do sound like The Killers. Again all the favourite songs were performed. Seeing The Fillers makes me remember how much I love The Killers and I’m massively regretting not buying tickets for their upcoming tour!
And finally Oasish who are a tribute band for Oasis. They really were the highlight of the night. The band are amazing, they sound exactly like Oasis and even have all the same movements and mannerisms too. From a distance you really would believe you were seeing Oasis.
Fake Festival at Roundhay Park Leeds – Final thoughts
The Fake Festival at Roundhay Park Leeds is a really fun and different day out. The tickets are cheap, the bands are good and it’s all under cover so it doesn’t matter what the weather is doing.
I’m more than happy for Ellie to go and next year she will bring a friend and wander around it themselves.
If Fake Festival stops near you next summer I definitely recommend getting a ticket and going along. I will be heading back to the Leeds date and I’m quite tempted to try the full Big Fake Festival weekend too.
