When we were in Lanzarote last month we stayed in the Hotel Blue Sea Los Fiscos, a 3 star rated hotel in the old town area of Puerto del Carmen.
“Enjoy a fantastic, fun-filled holiday at the Blue Sea Los Fiscos Hotel on the island of Lanzarote. Sitting in a peaceful location just half a kilometre from the centre of Puerto Del Carmen and 900m from the beach, you won’t find yourself short of things to do here. Puerto Del Carmen is a great choice for families, couples and small groups looking for an active holiday in the sun with everything you need right on your doorstep.
The picturesque, 3-star Blue Sea Los Fiscos Lanzarote is a comfortable and friendly hotel located on a hilltop in the old town of Puerto del Carmen. Just a walk from the beautiful Playa Grande beach, the hotel is perfect for enjoying the stunning views provided by its elevated position. The hotel provides a great base in a quieter area of the resort, while still only moments from all the action available in lively Puerto del Carmen.
Hotel Los Fiscos offers guests a fantastic stay in total relaxation. The swimming pool is perfect for taking a dip if the sun becomes too much, and there’s a separate children’s pool too.
For those who need a little more stimulation in the evening, Los Fiscos also offers an evening entertainment programme and bar, where guests can relax, unwind and enjoy their Lanzarote holiday. There is a buffet restaurant serving international and local cuisine to be enjoyed by residents for breakfast, lunch and dinner.“
We really enjoyed our holiday and this hotel made a great base for what we wanted to do. It had a restaurant which opened 3 times a day for our all inclusive meals, a lobby area with free wifi, a large swimming pool with plenty of sun loungers and a pool bar which serves the all inclusive drinks and snacks from 10am to 11pm.
Blue Sea Los Fiscos is a beautiful complex made up of lots of different white-washed buildings. All the complex always looked clean and tidy and cleaners and maintenance people were always around and busy. It is at the top of the Puerto del Carmen cliff so the views from the hotel are stunning.
The breakfast was always really nice, they had full English breakfasts, continental breakfasts, fruit, yoghurt and cereals.
The rooms were basic but had everything we needed and I was surprised at how big they were! We had a living room, kitchen / diner, bedroom, a bathroom and separate toilet and a patio with a table and chairs and clothes rack.
All the staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful, especially the barmen. They all had lots of advice on excursions and the resort.
The gardens around the hotel complex are gorgeous, filled with aloe vera plants and palm trees.
The biggest problem we had during our stay at Blue Sea Los Fiscos was the lunch and evening meals! Neither me or Ellie are particularly fussy eaters but there were many times there was absolutely nothing (other than bread and cheese) that we could eat. Every day the meals were the same, spaghetti with no sauce etc, stewed fish, extremely fatty pork pieces and shellfish paella and occasionally they had burgers, chips and chicken. There were no children options at all whilst we were there. This meant we had cheese sandwiches most lunch times and ate out almost every night which, when we had paid for all inclusive, is an expense I didn’t expect.
The hotel complex is quite large and set over a few roads, this means there are tunnels underneath the road with steps down in to the tunnel then back up out of it. To get to all of the different main parts of the hotel you have to come up and down them. If I had known this before I wouldn’t have booked to come here as following my hip operations I’m not back to 100% mobility and struggle with a lot of stairs.
It is advertised as 900m from the sea, whilst this isn’t untrue it is a bit misleading! The sea is actually the cliff drop the hotel is on and not the beach. The beach is actually about a 40-50 minute very hilly walk away, or €3 in a taxi. The old town centre of Puerto del Carmen is about 15-20 minutes walk away and the main strip of Puerto del Carmen is about 40-50 minutes away. It is very hilly and walking back up to the hotel is hard work, especially when it is very hot.
There is no air conditioning in the rooms, even if you pay extra for it like most hotels. It was 45 degrees when we were there so trying sleep in rooms that hot was almost unbearable at times!
The rooms are supposed to be cleaned every other day but our beds weren’t changed once in the week we were there and twice I had to go to reception because the cleaners hadn’t been and we had no towels as we had left them wet in the shower as we were supposed to do.
Overall Hotel Blue Sea Los Fiscos is a budget hotel that would make a great base for a Puerto del Carmen holiday. I wouldn’t recommend going All Inclusive due to how poor the food was or in the height of summer as there is no air conditioning available. If I was to go back to Puerto del Carmen I would probably look at other hotels, perhaps nearer to the centre next time.
