I recently went to the NYX launch party at the Trinity Leeds Boots store (you can read all about that here) and was given an amazing goodie bag as a thank you for attending. One of the products in my bag was a NYX Pro Lip Cream palette in The Reds. A lip palette isn’t something I would usually pick up so I’ve been really intrigued as to what this would be like.
The packaging of the palette is lovely, it’s very minimal and clean looking but feels really sturdy. I would be happy to carry this around in my bag and wouldn’t be worried about it getting crushed or coming open and getting make-up all over.
There are 6 different shades of lip creams and as the name suggests they are all red toned. I’m sure there would be a lip cream for every skin tone in here.
The lip creams are very pigmented and a little goes a long way with them, the formula is really creamy when applying and didn’t dry my lips out at all. They all have a semi-matte finish and I found they lasted a good 4 hours before needing a touch up. There isn’t a brush to apply them in the palette, although I didn’t mind this as lets be honest very few people use the applicators that come with make-up palettes. I applied mine with my concealer brush from my Bold Metal dupe brushes and that worked really well for me as I could get a crisp line and fill in the rest of my lips quickly. The lip creams are so pigmented I did have to scrub my lips slightly when I took my make-up off to get all of the colour off.
I love all 6 colours in the palette, they are all really unusual red tones and I don’t have any other lip products in these colours. I think my favourites are the first and third ones. Which is your favourite shade? Despite initially thinking I wouldn’t like a lip palette I’ve really enjoyed using this and will be looking out for the other NYX lip palettes which are The Nudes, The Pinks and The Plums next time I’m in Boots.
The only downside I have with the NYX Lip Cream palette is the shades aren’t named just numbered, it shouldn’t matter but I’d just like them to have names if you know what I mean, and I do tend to avoid wearing them on a night out as I just don’t want to have to carry a brush around with me as well.
Have you tried any of the NYX Lip Cream palettes yet? What are your thoughts on them if you have?
